An Eastwood Street man was charged with domestic violence Sunday after he allegedly fired a shotgun into the glass door of a residence.

Deputies were called to the Eastwood Street residence by a woman at around 6 a.m. The woman said she and her estranged husband argued and, as a result, she locked him out of the house, the incident report said.

She said her estranged husband went to his vehicle, where he retrieved a shotgun, the report said.

He then walked to the rear of the house and blasted out a sliding glass door with the weapon, the report said. Deputies noted pellets had peppered the interior of the living room.

The woman was not struck.

The 54-year-old man said he didn’t know where the woman was inside the home when he fired the shotgun. He said his only intention was to gain entry into the house, the report said.

In other reports:

* A Laquinta Drive woman was charged with domestic violence late Friday after she admitted to striking an acquaintance with her car.

A 28-year-old man told deputies that he and his girlfriend were at an Orangeburg residence visiting friends at around 10:30 p.m.

At one point, a former boyfriend of the Laquinta Drive woman entered the property, according to the incident report.

The woman said she tried to calm the 28-year-old man after he became upset about the other man’s presence, but he broke her cell phone and then threw her to the ground, the report said.

She said the man then left and she followed him in her car. She admitted she tried to run over him at one point, the report said.

The victim’s version differed. He said after the woman poured a beer on him, he pushed her away and left. Deputies noted the man’s clothing did appear to be wet.

The man told deputies he was walking along Five Chop Road when he heard a car approach. He said he jumped out of the way when the car nearly struck him. According to the incident report, when the vehicle came back a second time, it did strike him.

“Victim stated he was knocked out of his shoes onto the ground, causing a laceration to his left forearm,” the report said.

The man declined medical treatment.

* In a report released Monday, a Cordova youth was arrested last month during a drug operation near Edisto High School.

The OCSO narcotics unit received complaints of drugs being sold to high school students after school in the afternoon. The callers said a man driving a gray Oldsmobile would park at a nearby convenience store and sell drugs.

On Sept. 22, officers set up surveillance at around 3 p.m. on the Bamberg Road business. A few minutes after moving into position, a gray Oldsmobile drove up and parked beside the diesel pumps. Deputies noted the car was gas-fueled as opposed to diesel.

According to the report, a second car drove up. It’s driver got out and appeared to make an exchange with the driver of the Oldsmobile.

Deputies then closed in, arresting both subjects. A SpongeBob Squarepants backpack found inside the Oldsmobile contained 28.5 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana, officers noted in the report

The driver of the Oldsmobile, 17, was charged with distribution of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity of a school.

The second subject, an 18-year-old male, was charged with simple possession of marijuana.

* An Elloree man reported his motorcycle was stolen from his property Saturday.

The man said he last saw his silver Kawasaki motorcycle around 11 p.m. Friday. But by mid afternoon Saturday, the bike was gone.

A concerned resident told the victim the bike had been seen on the back of a truck driving on a dirt road near the victim’s home. The witness gave deputies a description of the truck and the three men inside.

* An Orangeburg man went to jail Saturday after an assault was reported by a Whitman Street man.

Police arrived at the residence to find several men sitting on a porch. Two of the men would not give police a statement. A third, however, acted suspiciously, police noted.

When officers found the 44-year-old victim, the first thing they noticed was a laceration to his forehead and blood in his face, the report said.

The victim said the man sitting on the deck, the one who had acted suspiciously, had asked him to go to a store and get him beer and cigarettes. When he refused, the man knocked him down and struck him in the forehead with his fist as he tried to get up, the report said.

The subject the victim identified was arrested and charged with assault and battery.
